WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT AT YOUR FIRST DENTAL VISIT

Are you preparing for your first dental visit? Dr. Nicolas Gallegos wants you to know what to expect. Read through our brief explanation, and if you have any questions about our dental care in Spokane, Washington, contact our dental office at 509-327-8681 to learn more and schedule an appointment with our dentist.
Getting to Know Each OtherHere at the office of Nicolas Gallegos, DDS General Dentistry, we greet everyone who walks through the doors with a warm welcome. We want you to feel valued and like part of a family. We do that through building strong relationships with our patients, helping you feel safe, comfortable and cared for at the dentist. It is our goal for you to enjoy the social side as well as the dental side of your appointment.
Dental History & ImagingDuring your first visit, we will review your dental and medical history. This tells us about your past experiences and concerns, along with a better understanding of your oral health. Furthermore your medical history can help us stay informed of your overall well-being and any medications or illnesses that may impact your dental health. Next you will receive digital X-rays and intraoral photos. This gives us the most accurate account of problems that may not be visible on the surface and gives you the ability to see for yourself what is going on in your mouth. We will also use these images to track progress over time.
Initial Exam & Treatment PlanNext, Dr. Gallegos will perform a comprehensive dental exam. He will take the time to talk to you about your oral health, why these problems are occurring and how to fix them. We want to make sure you are always aware of and fully understand your dental health and treatment plan. We are here to work with you so your needs and goals are met. When it is time for treatment, you can expect that it is performed with the most professionalism, personal care and attention to detail.

DENTAL ANXIETY

Many people are reluctant to schedule dental appointments because they are afraid and find it difficult to undergo dental treatment. Unfortunately, this can worsen your oral health over time as well as feeding the underlying problem or dental anxiety. Having routine check-ups reduces the need for more complex treatment. No matter what your past experiences have been like, trust that we will listen to your fears or apprehensions and will not judge your mouth’s condition. We will do everything we can to make you comfortable throughout the entire process because we care about your experience and your well-being.
What We Recommend to Ease Dental Anxitey

First and foremost, let us know. Openly discuss your triggers with us. We can schedule more time together and take things slow to make you feel more comfortable.

Bring something that makes you feel comfortable, whether that is a blanket, an audiobook, some music — whatever makes you feel at ease. We also offer to play your favorite music station on Alexa. If needed, we can also provide nitrous oxide (happy gas) or medication prior to your appointment.

Healthier Air, Healthier Patients & Staff

At our practice, we have invested in air purifiers for our office and all of our treatment areas. The five-stage HyperHEPA filtration filters even the smallest airborne particles, including aerosols from high-speed dental procedures and even mecury vapors. They operate 24/7 to ensure that our team and our guests breathe only clean, germ-free air.

Infection control in our office is imperative to us. To protect our patients and ourselves, we strictly maintain sterilization and cross-contamination processes using standards recommended by the American Dental Association® (ADA), the Washington Department of Health (DOH) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
